Screen Print

Ah screen printing.  You see it everywhere.  Really!  It’s everywhere.  Uniforms, t-shirts, sweatshirts – bags.  It even decorates the highest fashions on the runaway.  Screen printing utilizes very basic concept.  Passing ink through a fine mesh screen until the ink is deposited onto the finished product.  Sounds very simple, but screen printing can accomplish the most intricate of designs.  The finer the screen the more detail can be shown.

First the image to be screen printed is designed with vector art.  Vector art assures there will be no jagged bumps along the design lines.  After the art is designed, it is broken out into individual colors (one screen per color) printed from the computer onto a film transfer.  That transfer is laid onto the screen and placed into a special lightbox to expose a screen.  This removes the transfer printed area from the screen-essentially creating a hole for the screen ink to pass through.

A t-shirt (or other material) is placed on a platen, the screen placed above and ink is passed through the holes onto the t-shirt.  Repeating the process once per color until finally all the ink is deposited onto the shirt.  A few more processing steps and the shirt is complete.

Now the $64,000 dollar question…how much does it cost?  Similar to embroidery it’s based on the artwork; but it is all based on a great formula, ready?  Sure?  Okay here goes.  The forula is the number of ink colors  x quantity of shirts.  To get a quote for your project drop us a line, either here through the site, an email or ring us on the phone.  Carrie the one to call.  {Down there left corner, yep that’s her number}
